Application Instructions

  • Ensure framing is plumb, level and securely fixed before board installation.
  • Cut boards using a score-and-snap method or plasterboard saw; remove paper burrs.
  • Fix boards with the green face side outwards using suitable screws or fasteners.
  • Stagger vertical and horizontal joints and avoid forcing boards into position.
  • Joint using fibre or paper tape and a compatible jointing compound; allow to dry fully before decoration or tiling.

Coverage Calculator

  • Coverage = Wall/Ceiling Area ÷ Board Area (approx. 2.23–2.98 m² per board depending on size)

Suitable Applications

  • Internal linings in kitchens and bathrooms
  • Base board for ceramic tiles and marble in intermittent moisture areas
  • Drywall partitions in humid but not saturated environments
  • External soffits in sheltered locations
  • General moisture-resistant wall and ceiling applications

Compatibility & Limitations

  • Compatible with metal stud and gypsum framing systems designed for moisture-resistant boards.
  • Suitable for intermittent moisture only; not for continuous water immersion or permanently wet areas.
  • Ensure building envelope is weather-tight before final finishes are applied.

Safety & Handling

  • Wear gloves, dust mask and eye protection while cutting, sanding or handling boards.
  • Store boards flat on a level surface in dry, covered conditions.
  • Avoid impact damage and do not expose boards to excessive moisture before installation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Gyproc Moisture Resistant Board is a gypsum plasterboard with water-repellent additives in the core and a green paper facing. It is designed for use in intermittent moisture areas, providing a durable, stable substrate for tiles, marble and interior finishes.

It is ideal for kitchens, bathrooms, utility areas and other humid spaces where standard boards may deteriorate. It also works well as a base for ceramic tiles and marble, and for sheltered external soffits, provided there is no constant water exposure.

No. The board is designed for intermittent moisture, not continuous water immersion or permanently saturated conditions. For constantly wet zones, additional waterproofing systems or specially designed substrates should be used in combination with this board.

Yes, it is specifically formulated to act as a stable base for tiling in wet-use areas. Always follow recommended tile adhesive systems, surface preparation guidelines and fixing patterns to ensure long-term performance and adhesion of tiles.

The board is commonly available in 12.5 mm and 15 mm thicknesses. This allows flexibility for different system requirements, including wall linings, partitions and ceiling applications where additional rigidity or performance is needed.

Compared to standard boards, Gyproc Moisture Resistant Board contains water-repellent additives and uses a special green liner paper. This combination significantly improves performance in humid conditions, helping to reduce moisture absorption and maintain board integrity over time.

Yes, it can be used on ceilings in areas with intermittent humidity, such as kitchens and bathrooms, as well as sheltered external soffits. Ensure the supporting framework is correctly designed for the board weight and span.

While it offers moisture resistance, its primary function is not fire protection. For applications where both moisture and high fire resistance are required, it may be used within a system that includes specific fire-rated boards or configurations recommended by the manufacturer.

Joints should be treated with fibre or paper tape and a compatible jointing compound. After drying and light sanding, surfaces can be painted or tiled. In wet-use areas, always follow the manufacturer’s guidance on primers and waterproofing where needed.

Use gloves, eye protection and a dust mask when cutting or sanding. Store boards flat in a dry, covered place and avoid exposure to rain or standing water. Handle carefully to prevent edge damage, which can affect finish quality and performance.
