Product Highlights

  • Solvent-borne, fibre-filled bituminous coating — heavy-duty waterproofing membrane
  • Cold-applied — no heating required, easy to apply with brush or roller
  • Good water resistance — effective waterproofing for roofs, foundations and wet zones
  • Protective coating for concrete, masonry, metal (with primer) — resists moisture and damp-ingress
  • Economical and robust coating suitable for heavy-duty applications

Technical Specifications

Property Specification / Detail
Density (typical) ≈ 1.25 kg/L
Finish Matte, black
Recommended dry film thickness (per coat) ~300 µm (wet film ~650 µm)
Coverage (theoretical, smooth surface) ≈ 1.5 m² per litre per coat (practical ~1 m²/L per coat depending on surface texture)
Recommended number of coats Two (base + top coat)
Service temperature (dry film) Up to ~70 °C
Application temperature range 5 °C to 40 °C (humidity < 85%)

Application Instructions

  • Ensure substrate is clean, dry, sound and free from dust, oil, grease or laitance before application.
  • If applying on steel or metal surfaces — first apply suitable metal primer before Bituseal Liquid.
  • Stir product thoroughly before use. Apply first coat by brush or roller — ensure uniform coverage.
  • After first coat dries (as per ambient conditions), apply second coat perpendicular to first for complete membrane seal.
  • Allow adequate curing before exposure to water or further finishing. For roofs exposed to UV or sunlight — optionally overcoat after curing to extend life.

Suitable Applications

  • Flat roofs, terraces, balconies (non-trafficable roofs)
  • Foundations, retaining walls, bridge abutments — damp-proofing / waterproofing of concrete or masonry structures
  • Basements, tanks, water-retaining structures (subject to design and compatibility)
  • Repair and restoration of old waterproofing membranes or roofs showing leaks / dampness / water ingress
  • Jun- tions, joints, parapet walls, flashings, pipe-penetrations requiring waterproof on-site coating

Compatibility & Limitations

  • Surface must be clean, stable, and dry. Not for continuously wet or submerged surfaces unless design allows.
  • For metal surfaces — always use appropriate primer before application to avoid corrosion or poor adhesion.
  • Apply only within recommended temperature and humidity ranges (5–40 °C, humidity < 85%).
  • On exposed roofs, after cure, protect from direct sun/UV or mechanical damage — overcoat if needed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Bituseal Liquid is a solvent-borne bituminous heavy-duty coating used for waterproofing roofs, foundations, retaining walls, terraces and other structures requiring damp-proofing or water-ingress protection.

It can be applied on concrete, masonry, cementitious structures, screeds, and — after correct priming — on metal surfaces. Substrate must always be clean, dry, and stable.

Yes — it is cold-applied (no heating needed), and can be applied using a brush or roller, making it suitable even for on-site repairs or DIY jobs.

Typically two coats are required — a base coat and a second top coat — to ensure a continuous, waterproof membrane.

On a smooth dense surface, theoretical coverage is about 1.5 m² per litre per coat; in practical use with surface texture, estimate around 1 m² per litre per coat.

Yes — but you must first prime the metal with a suitable metal primer, because the product lacks corrosion-inhibiting pigments.

Apply when ambient temperature is between 5 °C and 40 °C, and humidity below ~85%. Substrate must be dry and free of moisture or laitance.

Yes — it can rejuvenate or reinforce existing bitumen waterproofing membranes, sealing leaks and restoring waterproof barrier.

When properly applied and cured, it offers durable waterproof protection. For exposed roofs, overcoat or protective layer recommended to enhance longevity.

Avoid using on wet, damp or unstable surfaces; metal surfaces must be primed; avoid application if rain is forecast or humidity is too high; after cure protect from UV or mechanical damage if exposed.
