Description

ABE Membrane is a high-strength polyester-reinforced non-woven membrane designed to be used with a.b.e. waterproofing systems to reinforce and seal roofs, parapets, joints and flashings. It bridges cracks and gaps and provides a stable base for liquid waterproofing coatings.

Available Sizes / Packing

• Rolls of various widths/lengths (e.g. 100 mm × 10 m, 200 mm × 10 m, 500 mm × 10 m — other sizes also available)
• Colour: White (membrane itself)

Stock Status

In Stock / On Request (depending on supplier availability)

Product Highlights

  • High-strength polyester-reinforced membrane — adds mechanical stability to waterproofing systems
  • Bridges cracks and gaps — enhances waterproofing integrity across joints and uneven substrates
  • Will not shrink or perish over time — durable under environmental exposure
  • Works with most liquid waterproofing products (a.b.e. range) for roofs, parapets, flashings, joints
  • Available in multiple roll sizes — flexible for small repairs or large-area waterproofing

Property Specification / Detail
Material Type Non-woven polyester stitch-bond membrane
Surface Colour White (pre-coating)
Typical Roll Sizes 100 mm × 10 m, 200 mm × 10 m, 500 mm × 10 m (other sizes may be available)

Application Instructions

  • Ensure substrate is clean, dry and free from dust, grease, loose particles or laitance before starting.
  • Apply a compatible liquid waterproofing coating (from a.b.e. system) as base coat.
  • Embed ABE Membrane into the wet base coat — avoid wrinkles and ensure full contact.
  • Once base coat with membrane is set, apply finishing coats of waterproofing material as per product instructions for complete waterproof barrier.
  • After full cure, the system provides durable waterproofing — protect membrane surface if needed (e.g., from UV, abrasion, traffic, heavy loads) depending on project design.

Suitable Applications

  • Flat roofs and terraces — waterproofing under coatings or toppings
  • Parapet walls, flashings and roof joints — sealing critical junctions
  • Corrugated or metal roofs — sealing laps, screws, overlaps (with correct coating system)
  • Re-waterproofing over existing membranes — ideal for renovation / repair work
  • Balconies or small roofs needing crack-bridging waterproof membranes

Compatibility & Limitations

  • Must be used in conjunction with a liquid waterproofing coating (from a.b.e. or compatible product) — membrane alone is not a finished waterproof layer.
  • Ensure substrate preparation — clean, stable, dry surface is required before embedding membrane.
  • Not designed as standalone structural material — only as reinforcement within waterproofing system.
  • After embedding and coating, surface must be protected if exposed to heavy mechanical traffic, abrasion or direct UV without proper finishing layer.

Frequently Asked Questions

ABE Membrane is a polyester-reinforced membrane used with liquid waterproofing systems to reinforce roofs, parapets, joints and flashings. It helps bridge cracks and ensures a stable waterproof barrier when embedded in a coating system.

No — the membrane itself is reinforcement only. It must be embedded within a compatible liquid waterproofing coating to form a complete waterproof layer.

Surface must be clean, dry, stable and free from dust, grease, laitance or loose particles before applying the base coat and embedding the membrane.

Flat roofs, terraces, parapet walls, flashings, metal roof laps, balcony waterproofing, roof joints and renovation of existing waterproof systems.

No — ABE Membrane is designed not to shrink or perish, ensuring long-term stability of the waterproofing system.

Available in various roll sizes like 100 mm × 10 m, 200 mm × 10 m, 500 mm × 10 m; other sizes may be available as per supplier.

Yes — when used with an appropriate compatible waterproof coating, membrane works for metal roofs (laps, screws sealing etc.), provided surface prep is correct.

Yes — because it bridges cracks and gaps, it helps maintain waterproof integrity where substrate may have imperfections or small cracks.

You apply a base coat of waterproofing material, embed the ABE Membrane in the wet coat ensuring full contact and no wrinkles, then apply finishing waterproof coats over it to seal and protect.

Yes — being polyester-reinforced and non-shrinking, when properly installed and finished, it offers durable waterproofing reinforcement and requires minimal maintenance compared to unreinforced systems.
